Health and safety
- make sure the client Is not allergic to any products using
- if your client is allergic to latex use sealer as a replacement
- if your client is unsure whether they are allergic to latex using a cotton bud apply a small amount to a small amount to the area in order to test the product if the latex causes burning or itching to the skin remove immediately under cold running water.
- When using a spatula to create a cut on the clients skin be cautious not to hurt the client .
Technique
- Using wax putty apply to the back of your hand in order to warm up the product this will make the wax easier to use.
- Then apply the wax to the area on your client for example the arm and small out the wax using a spatula. Make sure the wax is evenly spread across the area and the edges are smoothed into the skin this will make the wound seem more lifelike.
- Using a small amount of moisturizer apply to the edges of the wax this will help to smooth out the edges of the wax.
-next shake the bottle of latex well before using then pour into a small bowl and reapply the lid.
-then apply latex over the wax . you must carry this process out a quite a fast pace as the latex starts to peel.
- Using the hairdryer at a cool temperature wave overtop of the latex until the product becomes clear.
-in order to make the wound seem more lifelike you are able to apply several layers of latex carrying out the same process.
- if your client is allergic to latex use sealing gel as a replacement and carry out the same process of drying the product with the hairdryer at a cool temperature.
-using your Kryolan foundation pallet and foundation brush apply the colour which best suits your clients skin to the wound and around the area .Make sure the foundation I blended in well.
- Apply wound filler to the inside of the cut.
-finally to finish of the wound apply fake blood to the cut.
-When removing the product it is easy to peel the wax off using the flat end of the spatula and then rinsing the latex off under running water.
- finally once you have removed the wax and latex apply proshield to the arm or a barrier cream.
Here is my first attempt at creating a cut although I was quite happy with the outcome, I feel I could have applied more moisturiser around the outside of the cut in order to dissolve the edges and for it to blend well into the skin.
Here is my second attempt at creating a cut, I feel this time I applied the wax a little too thick to the area and in order for it to look more realistic I could have blended the wax better into the skin, and also used moisturiser in order to dissolve and rough edges.
In my own time after having several special effects technical lessons I created another wound. I was happy with the outcome and felt the wax and latex were blended into the skin well.
here is another attempt of mine at creating a wound I feel the outcome is a big improvement compared to my first attempt in my technical lesson, however I feel the wax and latex could have been blended into the skin better and the wax was applied slightly thick in some areas.
